When To Get Therapy

Many people wait until things feel unbearable before seeking therapy. In reality, therapy can be helpful long before reaching that point.

You might consider therapy when emotional difficulties begin to affect your daily life, relationships, sleep, or sense of self. Sometimes the signs are subtle, such as feeling constantly on edge or emotionally flat.

There is no perfect time to start therapy. Some people come during periods of crisis, while others use therapy as a way to reflect, grow, and make sense of ongoing patterns.

You may benefit from therapy if:

  • You feel overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted
  • Anxiety or low mood is becoming persistent
  • You feel stuck or unsure about direction in life
  • Past experiences are affecting your present
  • You want support but don’t know where to start

Starting therapy early can often prevent difficulties from becoming more entrenched.
